Meet Starbright Early Learning Center’s Directors
Jen Alaniz
After 14 years as Site Director, Jen took over ownership of Starbright in fall of 2016. She has a wide range of experience in this field, with over two decades’ of study and work in early childhood education. Jen has worked as a toddler teacher, preschool teacher, program supervisor, early childhood trainer, center director, and as a multi-site center manager.
Jen has a degree in early childhood education from Highline Community College. She has also attended Washington State University, working towards a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Business Management. As Starbright’s director and owner, Jen oversees the operations, management, and administration of our school. She responds to new student inquiries and serves as the chief point of contact for current and former families. Jen also handles questions on enrollment, finance, licensing, and community outreach. Her hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Candace Klein-Marquez
Candace was a teacher for elementary students for two years in California before joining Starbright in 2011. At our program, Candace began as a Teacher Assistant in Moonbeams and then went on to work as a Lead in three of our preschool classrooms. Candace has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at California State University focusing on early learning.
In 2015, Candace completed her WA State Certificate for Early Childhood Education at Edmonds Community College with an emphasis on Administration. Her professional experience, solid theoretical background, and dedication to children’s learning ideally suit her for her role as Program Supervisor and Assistant Director. Candace’s hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
